FAQs
Do you still pick and choose your projects?
No- I prefer to be inclusive, not exclusive. I’m only choosy if I’m considering a full record production.
Will you produce my band?
Yes. However, I typically don’t produce records the way other people do, so the answer also depends on your needs.
Will you listen to my demo?
Yes. If you purchase a service that requires me to listen to your demo, I will listen to it. You can find these on the SERVICES page.
Do you have time to work with me?
Yes. Because I offer production services, my time frame is more flexible, so I can work with anyone.
What are production services?
A production service is an individual process of the record-making process. I offer things like pre-production, remote production and artist development as individual processes, instead of integrated processes like on a full record production.
How are production services different than just producing a record?
Production services are about breaking the complete record production process down into individual components, as opposed to a full record production that integrates all the processes. I work this way because I’ve found that it’s more time and cost effective to separate the various processes than to combine them.
Do you have a studio?
I have a studio in my house and I work from there.
What is your studio like?
My studio is different than others because it’s designed for listening only- not recording. Since I’m either listening to demos or producing remote recording sessions I don’t need recording equipment. The equipment I use is mainly hifi and more accurate than what is found in recording studios. I need to have the most accurate system for remote recording and mixing because I’m usually listening to music being made thousands of miles away. I use special acoustic treatments to improve the accuracy.
What is pre-production?
Pre-production is the preparation stage before recording begins. It’s when an album is thought out, songs are composed, arranged and improved (or scrapped), and performances are perfected. Most projects don’t have any pre-production but it’s one of the most important parts of making a recording.
What’s the process if I hire you to do remote pre-production?
I do remote pre-production a few ways. The first way is sending arrangement notes and sound files via email or WeTransfer. The second is discussing arrangement issues via video chat. The third is a remote pre-production session where I work with the artist in real time while they rehearse.
What is remote production?
Remote production is producing from a different location than where the physical recording is being done. It’s less expensive and more practical than working in person. I can run a recording session remotely exactly the same way I do in person. I can also work with artists all over the world instead of only those in my geographical location.
What’s the process if I hire you to do remote production on my project?
Once you purchase a remote production service, you schedule a date and time for us to work. You will be recording or mixing in your chosen recording environment. When pre-production begins, we start a Zoom or FaceTime call and then, connect your session on a live audio stream via Audiomovers or Source Connect. From there, we start working as if we were face to face in a recording studio.
Do you do regular productions?
Yes, if I feel the project is a good fit for me and has ideal resources.
Do you travel for projects?
Yes, if I feel the project is right for me and has ideal resources.
How much do you charge?
That depends on the service. If you look on the SERVICES page of this website, you can see how much each one costs.
Why do you work this way now?
I’m working this way because no one else does and I feel that someone should. Processes like pre-production and artist development involve a lot of time and hard work. I feel that so many artists everywhere need help with their music that’s not available because they can’t afford it or they don’t have a record label behind them. It’s been a dream of mine to make music production affordable for artists at every level and I believe this is the answer.
What’s the procedure for purchasing a service?
You can go to the SERVICES page on this site and select the service you want. I’ve made it easy by creating an online store where you can purchase services with a few clicks.
I’m interested in purchasing a service, but I’m confused and not sure how to move forward.
If you’re not sure what service is right for you, take a moment and think about what kind of help you want. Do you need help with your arrangements and song structuring, do you need assistance with your recording or mix, or are you looking to develop as an artist? What aspect of your creative process needs the most help right now? Once you know what you want, look on the SERVICES page and see what service corresponds with your needs.
What happens once I’ve purchased a service?
After you’ve purchased a service, you will receive an email with information about the service you’ve purchased, what you can expect and what you need to do next.
What if I need a service you don’t offer?
Ask me about it. I’m always looking for ways to improve.
